Do you know there are more than 7,500 varieties of tomatoes? We do. At Southern Foods, it isn’t about the time clock or the pay check. It’s about the people we serve. For nearly 55 years, our customers have depended on us to understand their market and then provide turn-key solutions for their individual needs. We take great pleasure in the ability to provide outstanding service while building customer relationships that last a lifetime.
During the late 1980’s and spanning the next decade, the food services industry experienced tremendous growth. Because our clients continued to place their faith in us, expansion became necessary and Southern Foods found a new home on a sprawling 21-acre location at 117 Mitch McConnell Way, part of the south industrial park off Nashville Road in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
More than bricks and mortar, this state-of-the-art facility allowed us to increase service to our patrons exponentially. A refrigerated dock and holding area, PC-based monitoring system for temperature control, a test kitchen that rivals any restaurant equipment, training facilities and multiple temperature-controlled coolers for produce quality serve as a direct reflection of the consideration given to our client’s every need.
Sure, the more than 6,500 fresh, dry and frozen grocery products we supply are impressive. But, our shopping list far exceeds the normal pantry items. Cleaning supplies, paper goods, tabletop and kitchen utensils and more are also available. And, if you’re looking to take your business to the next level, but need some food for thought… our dietician, culinary chef and merchandising specialists are here to help.
A member of UniPro Foodservice, an integrated nationwide distribution system that includes a cooperative purchasing program, Southern Foods is also independently owned. UniPro has over 60 billion dollars in annual sales compared to Sysco, US Foodservice and Gordon Foodservice combined. This ensures our core values remain intact. As important to us as fresh foods, unparalleled service and a think tank of ideas designed to help you grow your business, integrity and trust along with care and concern for others remains supreme. The Golden Rule is simply how we choose to do business.
Take a trip to Bowling Green. We’d love to share our story further and extend the Southern hospitality synonymous with Southern Foods.
