There has been no bigger issue over the past 10
years that has been more important to our
industry than the increased focus on FOOD SAFETY. Every step in the food chain has been
scrutinized to assure that the consumer can be
assured a safe food supply.
QUALITY ASSURANCE is a top priority with
Southern Foods. Therefore, we maintain
consistent quality and inspection criteria
through continuous education and training of our
staff (i.e. proper rotation, adequate shelf life
through cycle counts, daily sanitation roles,
etc.).
The food safety and sanitation roles and
procedures are outlined in the Southern Foods Food
Safety and Sanitation Handbook and our HACCP
Plan. The HACCP is known around the world as a
means of controlling food processes to prevent
microbial contamination and foreign material
adulteration. It is a farm-to-table preventive
food safety system designed by the food industry
and government agencies, and we use it with the
goal of significantly reducing food safety
hazards such as, pathogens on meat, poultry and
seafood. HACCP is a system of process controls
to prevent, eliminate and control food safety
hazards. We are proud to have delivery,
warehouse, managment, and purchasing co-workers HACCP
certified. |

The Southern Foods warehouse has a pc-based
monitoring system for temperature and humidity
controlled rooms to maintain products at the
optimum industry standards. In addition,
Southern Foods maintains a refrigerated dock to
control the quality of refrigerated and frozen
goods during the receiving and shipping process.
We practice FOOD SAFETY everyday. We understand
the importance of having a consistent product,
and therefore our co-workers are following
specific procedures designed to receive, store
and ship quality products.
We invite our customers, vendors and other
business partners to tour our facility at any
time. We can provide assistance in training
customers' staff on food safety and proper food
handling procedures. |
